Estimator - Project Manager                Landscape Construction


  • $20 - $30/hour depending on experience, plus benefits and profit sharing
  • Monday to Friday - Some Saturdays. 40 to 55 hours per week.
  • March 1 – December 24.  Position may
 become year round.
  • At least ten years working in the landscape construction field
  • Must have worked at least five years as a foreperson of a landscape construction crew OR previous owner/operator of a landscape construction company OR previous project manager/estimator for a large landscaping company 
  • Well-developed computer skills a must 
  • Thorough knowledge of all materials used in landscaping
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

REPORTS TO:  Owner/General Manager


The project manager/estimator is an experienced landscape team member working with minimal supervision preparing accurate cost estimates for landscape projects; communicating with clients, the site foreman and the landscape designers about their projects; ordering materials for projects.


  • As an ESTIMATOR you will accurately take into account all costs of a project and produce a well constructed quotation to clients for the scope of work in the landscape plan and requested by the client.

  • You will be able to perform take-offs of landscape plans, measure landscape sites, and then use this information to produce quotations using Dynascape Manage, web based industry software. 

  • Using an existing database of landscape costing, you will input the measured quantities. 

  • You will also be responsible for amending our database from time to time, when errors are noticed, or production timing is consistently different from our previous assumptions. 

  • You have a complete knowledge of the materials used in our industry from all manufacturers, as well as a complete understanding of the best building practices.

  • This position is also responsible for the efficient running of a LANDSCAPE CONSTRUCTION PROJECT including: the ordering of materials for the individual projects; liaising with the crew foreman on the project to get materials to the site on time; monitoring the costs of the project to ensure profitability for the company and it’s employees; ensuring customer satisfaction with the workmanship and the customer service on the project.


This position requires that the individual be working on or have the following certification and licensing:

  • Canadian Landscape Technician in Hardscape and/or Softscaping (CLT)
  • Certified Landscape Professional (CLP)
  • Ontario Driver's License 'G'
